What is a drum bath? As the name suggests, a drum bath is a bath using a drum. It is very simple: water is stored in an oil drum and heated by a fire from below. The drum can itself was originally a large metal can used to store fuel and chemicals, but it was often used as an improvised bath in postwar Japan because it was large enough to hold an adult.
